Towards territorial charters of commitment for the preservation and sharing of land in Nouvelle Aquitaine

The coalition for a law to preserve and share land in France

I learned with deep sadness last week of the death of Eugenio C. Peixoto, by reading a message on Facebook from Arilson Favareto.
I met Eugenio in 2001 at the first World Social Forum in Porto Alegre (Brazil). A workshop on agrarian and land reforms of 4 half-days was organised by the APM Network Family farming, society and globalisation supported by the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind and the CONTAG (National Confederation of Agricultural Workers of Brazil). AGTER loses a friend and close collaborator, Benoit Maria, who was murdered in Guatemala

Committed and generous person, he has devoted most of his energies to supporting historically marginalized communities in their quest for emancipation, yet in a context of great insecurity. A serious assault targeted Massa Koné and his family at their home during the night of Thursday, June 18 to Friday, June 19, 2020. Massa Koné is the Secretary General of the Union of Local Struggles against Land Grabbing UACDDD, also spokesperson for the Malian Coalition against Land Grabbing (CMAT) and the West African Convergence of Struggles for Land, Water and Peasant Seeds (CGLTE OA). This paper, one of the first ones of the AGTER documentary collection, discusses the contribution of Larzac residents to the national reflection on the management of agricultural land. The SCTL has an interest that goes beyond the local context. This small region, where the inhabitants themselves manage the lands recovered after the fight against the expansion of the military camp and rented to the State, is probably the only one in France which has seen the number of its farmers and breeders increase during the last three decades.
