AGTER, together with TransNationalInstitute, the European Coordination Via Campesina and Access to Land, is calling for the creation of a European observatory on rural land to shed light on the grabbing of land and CAP subsidies, with a view to developing public policies that will put an end to this practice and promote job-intensive agroecology, which guarantees a healthy and diverse food supply and environment.
After consulting with organisations in the sector as part of the Strategic (…)

Following long-standing working relationships between the former Rhône-Alpes Region, the former Aquitaine Region and the Association of French Regions (ARF), the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region approached Agter in 2018 to help it pioneer the design of reciprocal land commitment charters with 3 territories: Grand Cognac, Bergeracois and Perigord-Limousin.
The said Region has expressed a strong will to act to preserve natural spaces and to reduce the effects of climate change, but also and at the (…)

AGTER with Terre de liens and the Confédération Paysanne lead the Land Coalition. This Coalition aims to bring together civil society organizations to influence land policies in France.
In 2021, the Coalition followed the evolution of the parliamentary bill on the regulation of the market for shares in agricultural production companies and on companies owning agricultural property (land and buildings).
I learned with deep sadness last week of the death of Eugenio C. Peixoto, by reading a message on Facebook from Arilson Favareto.
I met Eugenio in 2001 at the first World Social Forum in Porto Alegre (Brazil). A workshop on agrarian and land reforms of 4 half-days was organised by the APM Network Family farming, society and globalisation supported by the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind and the CONTAG (National Confederation of Agricultural Workers of Brazil).
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Forum of Struggles for Land and Natural Resources!
This new space for global exchanges concretizes a dynamic of citizen action that took shape on the occasion of the World Forum on Access to Land WFAL2016 organized at the initiative of AGTER and CERAI.
The farmer organizations co-organizing the WFAL(CONTAG COPROFAM, ROPPA, Ekta Parishad) were recently joined by the Global Convergence of Struggles for Land, Water and Peasant Seeds in West (…)

Our thoughts go first and foremost to his family and closest friends whose grief we share. Committed and generous person, he has devoted most of his energies to supporting historically marginalized communities in their quest for emancipation, yet in a context of great insecurity. Agter joins AVSF in condemning this heinous crime and demanding clarification of the circumstances, reparation and justice.

This paper, one of the first ones of the AGTER documentary collection, discusses the contribution of Larzac residents to the national reflection on the management of agricultural land. The SCTL has an interest that goes beyond the local context. This small region, where the inhabitants themselves manage the lands recovered after the fight against the expansion of the military camp and rented to the State, is probably the only one in France which has seen the number of its farmers and breeders increase during the last three decades.
